Toughest 2 weeks yet!

Ok, so this is the week I hit the pavement on behalf of my Agency The Children's place Association. I'm excited but nervous all the same. I trained but not as hard as I should. To be truthfully honest I slacked off the last 2 weeks so I don't know how I will do Saturday LOL! I haven't been as motivated due to the change of weather and lack of support and motivation. My goal was to drop at least 15 pounds by Saturday. But, I think I may have only dropped 5 pounds if that. I haven't weighed in yet, but not much has changed with my weight.

I went for a jog slash run yesterday night but, I feel the two weeks of slacking off showed in my performance. My husband is a lot heavier than me and he killed it last night! He totally kick my butt on the track. That made me realize that I need to continue to train even after the event is over.

I've been really bad the last 2 weeks, I ate greasy foods and loaded up on unhealthy snacks. I had to stop myself because I felt myself going back into my old habits. So, now, it is really time for me to step up my game and get back on track! I can say, that my husband thinks my legs is looking more shapier and my waist a lot smaller so that gives me hope.

I wish like hell, I can go on the Biggest Loser or a show like Dance your ass off! That's the kind of kick in the butt I need to shed this weight! I'm not morbidly obese or anything but, I feel this is the only way I can really do it if I have someone motivating me and pushing me.My husband supports me, but not the kind of support I need! I need my own Jillian Michaels in my life :) .... But not as intense as she LOL!!

I will push myself to run this week leading up to the event just to get my endurance back up! This is only the beginning everyone! Big changes is on the way!!

Here's is a video link of my company and the clients I'm doing this for Enjoy!!:

1 Month down... A life time journey to go!

The day before my first retightening! Whoo look at that new growth!

The Day I got it Retighten, my hair was so unruly right after!

Close up of my Hair right after I got it retighten. Please excuse my expression, I was concentrating way too hard LOL!

Hey Everyone,

On 9/29 my locks will be 1 month old yeeaahhh! I'm having a blast with my locks and can't wait to see what each month in my journey will hold! I had my first retightening on 9/26. It went very well! It took 3.5 close to 4 hours to get my locs retighten. But, I had such a good time with my loctician the time went by so fast! Of course right after I got the retightening, my hair was a bit unruly but I know it will start to relax as the week progress. Good News, my itchy scalp problem is virtually no more! I will invest in Witch hazel, Apple Cider and Vinegar and some Sea breeze. But I didn't have to use any of those products because it stopped on it's on. My loctician told me anytime my hair gets really itchy like that to wash it! I exercise a lot and work out so I know the sweat builds up and dirt makes my scalp itchy. I thought that washing my hair a lot would interrupt the locking process. She told me to wash my hair as often as I can ONLY if it's really really itchy!

My loctician also told me my hair is going to lock faster than some of her other clients because of its texture (Can't hardly wait for this to happen). Now that I'm one month in, I will be experimenting with my locs with flex rods to see the styles I can create. I don't do much rolling or twist outs on my hair because my hair is very curly on the ends. I consider that to be a style in itself! I was waiting to get a little more length before curling but, I'm starting to get a little bored with freestyling. Also, I'm looking for some fragance to put in my hair like jasmine or rosemary to drop in my spray bottle. Just to give it a little something extra. I don't what product to by to use on my hair. I hope my sisterlock sisters can give some suggestions!

I hope everyone Have a Blessed Week!

SL Update

In the last couple of weeks since my Installation I've seen plenty of progress! I've also seen a couple problems that may be potential setbacks:

Here are some of the Good Things: My hair seem to be getting fuller and a wee bit longer ( as well as thicker), I've perfected banding a braiding my hair :)!

Bad Things: Incredibly dry scalp, with itchiness, major slippage on nap of my neck and front of my head. I also developed a sore on my scalp for scratching a VERY itchy spot. (The spot has healed since I did that ).

Although I was told to put no oil in my hair I wonder if I should try the Moisture products advertised on the Sisterlocks website. Or I wonder by me being a "newbie" is it too soon to try these products.

I spritz my hair with water everyday before I go to work. But due to the extreme dryness in my scalp I've been spraying my scalp more frequently. The water trick helps for a small amount of time but, I'm worried I may be over doing it with the water.

I was told to try lemon juice, Witch hazel and sea brezze to help aide in the itchyness. But I think out of the 3 I want to go with the witch hazel ideal. Sea breeze dries out the scalp (so I heard) and lemon juice (I'm afraid this may cause build up in my locs)! I guess I can't knock the ideals totally until I try it!

I'm excited about my first retightening that will be taking place on 9/26. Because of some of the slippage in the front and back of my head, my hair is starting to look a bit unruly. I have tons of questions to ask my loctician and I hope that she can help me with them. Aside from that, my hair has a nice amount on new growth that is begging to be retighten.

I'm loving my Sisterlocks with each passing day! I know the problems are minor and will be fixable! I absolutely love the freedom to get up and go without putting up a fuss over styles for my hair. I currently wear my hair freestyle. I'm waiting for a little more length to try different styles. I do have some flexrods that I may give a go to see what style I can create but, I will do it after I get my hair retighten!

My husband thinks my hair is sexy he loves the length and wish I would've made the decision to get SL's long time ago. He comments on my hair daily even some days when I'm not feeling it! This makes me feel reallygood about my hair and I'm excited about the journey ahead!

On the road to a healthier Me

This year has been a year of total change for me! I put a lot of old habits and mentalities about my hair, my self image and my weight behind me! I feel like a new person! I thank my lord and Saviour for being my muse of inspiration! He has guided me to realization that I'm beautiful the way he TRULYmade me. He also has been working in me to realize that patience is a virtue... Good things come to those who wait!

I have been struggling with my weight a little bit since 2004! I've always been a pretty small young lady with curves. However, when I met my hubby all of that went out the window. My husband is a big guy who loves to eat. Me being so happy and in love said, the heck with it and did the same. Of course 5 pounds turned into 10 and 10 turned into 15 pounds gained.... When I looked up it was 2009 and I gained over 90 pounds!!! I was not happy with myself at the end of 08' going into the New Year!

I knew I had to do something and I had to do it fast! I didn't want my weight gain to cause health problems for my future! Before I began I knew I had to change my views on dieting. Someone told me not to think of it as "dieting" but more as a lifestyle change! When I got that notion into my head my whole ideal on losing weight changed. I got into a bad habit of eating junk food especially drive through places like McDonald's, Burger King... Because of the connivance.

I derived a plan to eat healthier by preparing meals for work and dinner in advance. To keep me out of the drive through! I also, got off my couch and started to jog, exercise and dance more! When I was skinny I weighed 135, when I gained all of the weight I reached 215 pounds!! Now I'm 194 pounds ! I know I have more to go but, I'm so proud of my progress so far! My goal is to get back down to 135-140 pounds by next May! That why I said Patience is a virtue! I know I will lose the weight if I keep my trust in the lord and have confidence that I can do it. The key to losing weight is You can accomplish anything when you believe in yourself! My aunt always told me how important it is to plan your work and work your plan to see result!

I'm so glad that Jesus is molding me to love myself and really be free from all the bondage's in this world. The bondage of thinking I need to look a certain way, and Fit into a certain image to be considered beautiful! It's OK to be a Bigger sized person but I learned that its important to be Healthy no matter what size you are!

Dry and itchy Scalp

This week has been such a new beginning for me and my hair! I got my locks installed on this pass weeekend andI'm loving my first week journey thus far. I'm happy to say my locs already seem to be changing right before my eyes and its only the first week! I can't wait to see what the weeks and months have in store as they mature!

I washed my hair the first day after installation, my locs kind of dropped from its curly state a little. 2 days after I washed I started to experience a bit of dry scalp and flakiness around the crown of head. I'm hoping this something that will eventually pass . I think it will be a nuisance if it gets worst. My hair regimen consists of gently spraying my hair with a bit of water every morning to give moisture to my scalp ( I never exceed this, because I don't want to interrupt the locking process). I do have a urge to rub raw shea butter through my locs but, I know that this will not be a good ideal! My loctician Stressed to me to not put any oil in my hair especially the first 6 months!

I really don't think I have dandruff, because it is not really flaky it just a bit dry. I would like for anyone out who experience the same thing to give me any tips to help me in this matter. I'm a newbie to sisterlocks and want to get all the trick of the trade to keep my scalp moist and locs healthy!
